Sun Tzu’s Awesome Tips On Indoor Playground

If you live in a place like we do in Western New York (we're in Rochester!) With superbly hot summers and cold snowy winters, you'll understand your choices for your kid's birthday celebration are mostly determined by the weather.
As an August baby, we always had small family parties out at my house. However, with sons born in November and March, we are always left to reserve an indoor venue for their parties, if we chose to have them that year. While those with kids with summer birthdays may seem blessed to have numerous choices at their disposal, it can also often feel overwhelming.
While at Climbing Vines Cafe and Play we may be biased because we host indoor celebrations, I wished to share with you the 5 most common reasons we hear out of previous celebration customers to reserve indoor summer birthdays with us. To them, the stress-free nature of the indoor summer celebration is a no-brainer, and they are not looking back! After their initial indoor summer celebration , they keep hosting with us year after year.

The most common cause for a client to book a summer indoor party with us is they do not have to stem the weather forecast for updates in the weeks leading up to the party. Nothing can derail a fun celebration quicker than having to cram all of your guests within your house, waiting for a storm to pass. And if you've ever needed to cancel or postpone your child's birthday due to weather, you realize how heartbreaking that can be.
We receive dozens of calls each summer a couple of days before somebody's outdoor celebration is supposed to happen to see if we have an open slot for them in our indoor playground equipment celebration place due to weather woes. We can normally pull off this if the place remains open, but hosts will unfortunately need to starve and let all of their guests are aware of the change in place and probably shift in time, and change all of their catering requests to accommodate their new party plan.
While of course rain is likely the largest obstacle you might face, extreme heat, unseasonably cool weather, and end may also pose problems to your decorations, food, along with your guests' possessions. You will probably find yourself investing in a tent or some other weather barrier simply to ease your mind somewhat, which can be costly and take a great deal of precious time to prepare and take down. I will not even tell the story of this time my Dad put up a tent for a party in a windstorm and wound up with a insurance coverage for 4 ruined automobiles when it withdrew (weights and anchors and all!) ...

Aside from the obvious weather concerns you can avoid with a indoor celebration, there may also just be something so straightforward and lovely about an indoor summer party. Guests will not need to be worried about bringing sunscreen and towels and towels and swimsuits and changes of clothes and bug spray... you understand.
Sometimes it's nice to take a short break in the outside, sip coffee in an air-conditioned cafe, and have a real conversation with other adults while the kids play, instead of chasing kids around trying to get their hat on them or keeping them away from the in-ground pool. I'm not sure about you, but I can never really relax at an outdoor summer birthday party with a 2 and a 4 year old. While they sure do have a fantastic time running around, we typically leave at a daze or with a tantrum, unsure whether we had time to talk or check in with everyone.
While I absolutely adore a good barbecue or summertime grilling extravaganza, I find it so refreshing when we can take a break in the same-old backyard bash and spend a few hours in a relaxing, cool, and most significantly -- included! -- air.
It is also freeing as a guest to have the remainder of the day to do as we want as a family and not have to be concerned about getting the kids into a tub right after the celebration or quitting home to cool off and change clothes.
I promise that if you reserve an indoor party for your child, guests (particularly family) might appear a bit confused at first (why not take advantage of the summer weather while we can, right?) But after hosting countless indoor parties I can tell you for sure that on the day-of, you and your guests will realize how nice it can be to reunite within an air-conditioned private celebration for a few hours.

Speaking of how relaxing a indoor, air-conditioned celebration can be, can we discuss food for a moment? Not only are food options limited with an outdoor party because of heat, but it can be difficult to keep food covered and retain the bugs, bees, and other debris away.
Right now, my sweet 4 year old boy is terrified of bees, and the fastest way to send him into a tailspin is for him to sit down to eat a cupcake or his meal and have bees swarming around. Therefore, for our family, the meals factor alone would be enough to justify an indoor party.
Eating in peace without having to find colour or a chair or a place away from pests is just one of these things that you do not realize can be so glorious until you attend your fourth or fourth outside summer gathering and THEN get a rest from them. One of the most common things we hear is how fine it is to just sit and eat and see the kiddos play without having any other venue-related cares or worries. This will be especially important if you are going to be having older family members attend that will struggle with being portable in the grass or mud and locating seating at outdoor parties.
Plus, when was the last time you attended an outdoor summer party with a full espresso bar and cafe available for guests to enjoy now they don't need to be concerned about running around chasing their children in the heat? Do not worry, we have you covered there, literally!

4) DECOR OPTIONS GALORE

While party aesthetic may not be a determining factor for each and every family, it sure is much simpler to create a themed extravaganza that lights a youngster's face up as soon as the party's indoors. The decorations demanded tend to be less because the place is smaller and contained contained, and you won't need to worry about balloons and streamers blowing all about or securing table covers down.
Because we do host cellular events outside in Climbing Vines Cafe and Play, I will also speak from experience when I say the time it takes to set up (and take down!) Decorations for an outside party compared to a indoor party usually ends up being double. Finding great places to hang banner, needing two people to maintain and secure everything, and locating weights or other restraints for everything can be a genuine hassle on celebration.
And you will have enough to worry about this afternoon, right?
Also, if your pinterest boards are full of cute centerpieces, a candy bar, or anything which may be impacted by wind (or attract bees!) You will probably have to restrategize for an outdoor soiree.
Not to mention decoration typically can only be utilized once if used outdoors, but repurposed again and if used for an indoor event. Our guests who sponsor indoor events, especially those who spent significant money into decor or labored hard to create their very own, are pleased to find they could usually make a large chunk of their cash back by reselling their supplies something like Facebook Marketplace.
5) YOU MAY ACTUALLY SAVE MONEY
Speaking of money, probably the biggest misconception I hear from customers is that they wish to host a party at their home to save the leasing fee of an indoor area. I generally laugh at this because it makes great sense, in other words, if you've never hosted an outdoor celebration.
With all of the"extras" such as tents, seat rentals, additional decorations, weather reinforcements, clean-up provides, games and activities for the children (which you won't need to supply at a play place!) , pool toys, etc.... It is very possible that you are going to end up spending MUCH more hosting a celebration at your home or an outside venue than you would inside.
I'm not sure how other indoor spaces handle their equipment, but we only charge guests to get additional beverages and provides and these on the afternoon of the party if they end up needing them, and we also enable parties to bring in their OWN meals, dessert, and decor if they choose!
Money aside, spending countless hours cleaning before, during, and following the celebration may also take a toll. Would not it be nice to walk into a sparkling clean space and leave with your guests when the party's over, not needing to worry about the clean-up, garbage removal, tent teardown, etc?
It's possible to just go home and relax with your family (yes, possibly outside!)
Along with the time spent cleaning before and after the celebration, wouldn't it ALSO be nice to not have to play"server" throughout the event? Even for customers that make their own food and decor, our committed celebration assistants set up everything, refill and fix food and drinks as necessary, clear dishes, cut and serve the cake, and package up all the leftovers at the end of the party!
After all, it is your child's special day and you wish to spend those valuable hours making memories and seeing along with your guests-- not running about chasing your decorations or refilling the fruit bowl countless times.
So save everyone (and especially your family!) Lots of anxiety, time, and worry by booking your event with us this summer. We'd be honored to provide you with an easy, enjoyable experience that will leave your entire guest list feeling joyful, grateful, and filled with love after having a relaxing (yet fun-filled!) day together.
